EduIndex launches: the UK's AI-visibility index for universities
We're excited to announce the launch of EduIndex, the UK's first independent ranking of how visible universities are across leading AI platforms. The index shows how institutions are seen, cited and surfaced by models including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek and Grok.
Why this matters - the visibility gap
AI is rapidly becoming a new discovery layer for prospective students, researchers and international audiences, changing how people search, learn and make decisions. If your university isn't visible to AI, it risks being invisible to the people who matter.
What EduIndex measures
Unlike traditional rankings, EduIndex focuses on how AI systems perceive and represent institutions. We benchmark four KPIs and combine them into a single score:
-
LLM Readiness (30%): how easy it is for AI tools to fetch, navigate, extract and cite facts from your site (crawlability, content chunking, structured data, trust & provenance, verifiability).
-
Perception (30%): how assistants portray your institution across nine higher-education signals (from teaching and research to inclusion and sustainability).
-
Traffic (30%): volume of AI-referred traffic.
-
Diversity (10%): how balanced that traffic is across different AI tools.
Coverage and cadence
The index currently covers 153 UK universities, tracking performance across 7 AI platforms with 20+ metrics. Rankings are benchmarked monthly, with complementary quarterly content checks to reduce jitter and keep the scores robust.
Built by sector specialists
EduIndex is delivered by AI-innovation consultancy Jagged Edge in partnership with Anything is Possible, combining deep AI capability with marketing, media and measurement expertise to help institutions take control of their visibility in the AI age.
What's next
We'll continue to evolve the methodology as AI platforms change, and we invite universities to review their scores.
